03[+0.53, -0.50]degrees C, -0.05[+1.02, -1.07]degrees C, and -0.06[+1.21, -1.28 degrees C], respectively. The percentage of values within 0.5 degrees C of T-naso was 93.2%, 75.4%, and 66.1% for Tsk_carotid,Tsk_abd, and T-sk_axilla, respectively. Sensitivity and specificity
for detecting hypothermia (T-naso<36.0 degrees C) was 0.88 and 0.91 for T-sk_carotid, 0.61 and 0.76 for T-sk_abd, and 0.91 and 0.73 for T-sk_axilla. Goodness-of-fit (R-2) relative to the line-of-identity was 0.74 (T-sk_carotid), 0.34 (T-sk_abd), and 0.15 (T-sk_axilla).
ConclusionsSkin temperature over the carotid artery, with a simple correction factor of +0.52 degrees C, provides a viable GW3965 noninvasive estimate of T-naso in young children during elective surgery with a general anesthetic.”
“A JQ1 clinical trial sonochemical technique is used for in situ coating of iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles on outer surface of MWCNTs. These Fe3O4/MWCNTs were characterized using a high-resolution transmission
electron microscope (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis. The as-prepared Fe3O4/MWCNTs composite nanoparticles were further used as reinforcing fillers in epoxy-based resin (Epon-828). The nanocomposites of epoxy were prepared by infusion of (0.5 and 1.0 wt %) pristine MWCNTs and Fe3O4/MWCNTs composite nanoparticles. For comparison purposes, the neat epoxy resin was also prepared in the same procedure as the nanocomposites, only without nanoparticles. The thermal, mechanical, and morphological tests were carried out for neat and nanocomposites. The compression test results show that the highest improvements in compressive modulus (38%) and strength (8%) were observed for 0.5 wt % loading of Fe3O4/MWCNTs. HRTEM results show the uniform dispersion of Fe3O4/MWCNTs nanoparticles in epoxy when compared with the dispersion of MWCNTs. These Fe3O4/MWGNTs nanoparticles-infused epoxy nanocomposite shows an increase in glass transition (T-g) temperature. (C) 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J

“Background: Malaria kills. A single rectal dose of artesunate before referral can Epigenetics inhibitor reduce mortality and prevent permanent disability. However, the success of this intervention depends on caretakers’ adherence to referral advice for follow-up care. This paper explores the dilemma facing caretakers when they are in the process of deciding whether or not to transit their child to a health facility after pre-referral treatment with rectal artesunate.
Methods: Four focus group discussions were held in each of three purposively selected villages in Mtwara rural district of Tanzania. Data were analysed manually using latent qualitative content analysis.
Results: The theme “”Caretakers dilemma in deciding whether or not to adhere with referral advice after pre-referral treatment with rectal artesunate”" depicts the challenge they face.
